To calculate Body Mass Index (weight in pounds * 703 ) ———————————— height in inches² The BMI looks at the relationship between your height and weight. Generally, the number is small for "thin" people and large for "overweight" people.
Use these formulas for your Body Index Calculations
To calculate Basal Metabolic Rate Men: BMR = 66 + (13.7 X wt in kg) + (5 X ht in cm) - (6.8 X age in years) Women: BMR = 655 + (9.6 X wt in kg) + (1.8 X ht in cm) - (4.7 X age in years) ** 1 inch = 2.54 cm 1 kilogram = 2.2 lbs Your Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR is the number of calories your body needs to carry out your basic living functions and maintain your current weight. The BMR is different for men and women and it changes as you age and weight changes. If, for example, your BMR is 1488.93, it means that you need 1488.93 calories to maintain your current weight. In other words, your body will automatically "burn" 1488.93 calories to carry out your basic living functions. Any activity or exercise you do will burn calories IN ADDITION to the BMR calories you will automatically burn. Generally, you must burn 3500 calories to lose 1 pound.
